Guesting on The Sweet Life
I was once again invited by the QTV staff to guest on The Sweet Life, hosted by Lucy Torres-Gomez & Wilma Doesnt to style up & coming teen girls who happen to be daughters to celebrity Moms. I got to partner with designer-model-makeup artist-"cuz" Cielo Fronteras on giving a makeover to Janice de Belen & John Estrada's daughter, Ina. I pointed out that an LBD (little black dress) would be a good investment, one that she could wear even on a non-red carpet event and style in different ways. A short dress with a nice structure would lengthen her petite frame and compliment her youthful disposition. We put the glam on her look with a customized headpiece by Cielo (of course!), dainty accessories from the House of Laurel, Anthology and Moonshine and intense black smokey eyes that instantly transformed the Code DM dress by Joe San Antonio into a fab red carpet worthy look. Her VNC stillettos put a dash of color on her wardrobe and at the same time snapped her up a bit for a confident look. More than anything else we pointed out that regardless of the occasion, an age appropriate look would never go wrong. Hope you like it!
Setting It Up
It was high time we get back on track, show a range of poses and looks by these beautiful talented friends of ours and simply shoot for the love of it!

SM is for Stylist's Mad House
My short stint in SM as the Department Store's Girls Teen Wear's resident stylist and Adpromo Manager was far from easy but it sure was fun. Check out the work I've done in the short five months I was working there. The clothes look great and there's just so much you can do, I hope you like these as much as I do :)

Soap Flowers
My Mom went gaga when she discovered these roses. They can be given out as souvenirs or arranged to make table centerpieces, floral arrangements for bouquets of flowers--like for wedding entourage or parties! When you don't find them useful anymore, think again! They melt in your hands when submerged in water. They're actually made of paper soap! Best of all, they don't smell like potpourri and the scent is discreet enough and sweet if you come close enough to sniff. Hihi.
For orders call 09204727345 or 5012940 and ask for Susan. Thanks!

Makeup + Hosting
Just came out of a very cozy Power Weddings bridal fair courtesy of Angels Wink Productions.
I'm extending my 10% discount for bookings made until the end of April 2009 :)
Bridal hair and makeup package is 15k for bride + 2 other female heads. Free grooming for the groom and a bridal hair piece. Additional heads are 1,500 each and trial is 2,500. Please view sample works below or at http://jazzmendiola.multiply.com
Those who are concerned about touch ups until the reception... although there is absolutely no need since I use high quality long-wearing (even waterproof) makeup, you have an option to let me stay for P500 an hour from the time the church ceremony ends.
OR
You may book me as your reception host for an additional fee of 5k to get free touch ups all night! Thank you to Angels Wink, I had to the courage to brave that task. I happen to be a former traffic reporter and celebrity stylist guesting on tv (I also used to host for children's parties--all in costume!) so this should be a piece of cake and a delight, if I may say so.
I hope to hear from brides to be real soon! Thanks!

As of Press Time...
Because I'm taking too long uploading my 2008 brides, I'd like to share my latest scans of the few Summit magazines I managed to gather. This freelancing stint is taking a toll on my finances to be quite honest but I'm actually happy that I have more time with Mio and for self-projects. I hope God keeps things like these coming!

Gab Dela Merced: Hailed one of Star Magic Ball's Best Dressed

so kilig about this :) In spite of how scarce my new place was, I got around finding Gab the perfect black dress (fine, it was dark blue but the finest of what was available from designers the night before! so last minute! Thanks Martin Bautista). Her mom's closet provided a wide selection of clutch bags, accessories and shoes but Gab bought gold platforms for this.
Good one, Gab!
Went for the laid-back style in true Gab fashion. Stiff straight hair and glamorous makeup. All in between moving in. We liked it. Apparently some critics did too. I hope you do. :)
read up here. Thanks again Tita Girlie!

Fashion Styling

Just in case most of you don't know, I'm mostly a fashion stylist more than a make up artist when it comes to the magazine industry. And lately, so too in show business. Allow me to share my recent works in various magazines (mostly, if not all, Summit Media's, my home c: almost literally actually!)

Thank you, 2007
Apologies for hardcore bloggers as I have been more inclined to upload photos on my multiply site. So for those who haven't dropped by the albums of my work the past year, I'm quickly uploading photos from last year's weddings.
Incidentally, I'd like to dedicate this entry to Paulo Clemente. To whom I believe deserves all the joy and happiness that these girls represent. You have been an angel to all those in the industry, and you already are. I'm sure you're looking down on us singing your heart out and spreading the love that these beautiful girls have.

Another wedding in Fernwood. I did her hair too!
Jehan was my first Muslim bride and anotherfirst at MMLDC. It was really nice there! I even thought Jehana was a priness :) And she was so nice all throughout.
O Karla Uson! I've probably done her makeup thrice before her actual wedding and I must say it was a treat to be around her every single time. Maybe you can set me up with your handsome brother now? Haha! Kidding. Those dark undereye circles were her major problems. (What? What dark undereye circles? Where?! Kidding!) Seriously! I think I did a pretty good job at it, right Karla? :)

Brides of 2006 (Last Half)
Here are a few of the brides I've made up for the past year. They have albums on my multiply, so if you'd like to see them in different angles, you're very welcome to take a look.
Tess Tamondong-Buted, wed Dec. 22, 2006 on the other hand was very formal when we met over coffee. She wanted everything to look fairy tale-ish, with butterflies and fairies as her inspiration in her early morning Fernwood Gardens wedding, a little before Christmas. I think that was one of the few mornings I was really happy to be wide awake at :) Seriously. (photo by Wally Gonzalez)

Hay... Kaye Rosal-Marcos, my first Dec. 16 2006 bride! She literally cornered me at a bridal fair. It was the weirdest mix of kaba and excitement when I saw her heading my booth--the first to head my booth as soon as the bridal fair opened doors! And she booked way in advance, more than a year in advance! And paid in full! She was a friend that I have to admit, had been a fun breeze all throughout the year, looking forward to her big day. I hope I didn't disappoint you, Kaye :) photo by Mimi & Karl
Deanna Uy, the first of my December brides (Dec. 2, 2006 to be exact), booked early in 2006 and had to fly back and forth from Singapore if I'm not mistaken. She was very particular with her oily face but I think we got it pat down, didn't we? :) She was glowing, I personally think.
Bel Dancel was meant to be one of my brides! Mwahaha!! I snagged her sister at a bridal fair who I used to work a lot with back in high school for YCLC. (Naks!) Bel had a beautiful Tagaytay wedding last Nov. 25 2006 and she was so calm, i recall. Remember feeling like a star with my magician kit? Haha. I miss you and Cas. (photo by G Javelosa)
Jackie Benavides was my first bride at Oasis, wed Nov. 18, 2006. She already booked a year before her wedding and never had a trial. she wanted something different. Natural but different. So we went sparkly with glitters on her lids and purple as the main theme--different from the usual color schemes preferred by most brides. I think it looks pretty :)

Nikki Perdigon, Sept. 26, 2006 I think is the youngest bride I ever had! This is the first time I meet Peachy, one of my favorite female photographers in the industry.
Arlene Reyes, Aug. 2, 2006 had a Japanese themed wedding at the Manila Hotel. I gave her cat-eyes but still kept it simple and fresh!
Anna Villanueva, July 25 , 2006
some brides seem to be meant to be your good friends. Anna was one of those :)

Marga Flores, July 1, 2006
Marga I think is the first bride who ever used an Ocars red carpet look as her peg. And I think she started a trend of soft brushed up hair and a kind of look that's uniquely you. Her wrier sister, Katski--a college friend of mine had only fond things to say about her sister that day.

Joan Jagurin, July 15, 2006
My first set of friends are from Filinvest II and Joan is one of the girlfriends of the guys in that group. It was a very simple wedding with very close family and friends in the reception. Joan wanted something simple. But I think I over did it and gave her simple and glowing. ;)

Valentine & Summer Brides 06
I'm such a sucker for weddings. Did I already say that? Each and every wedding makes me sentimental especially when I know deep inside that I was a part of it somehow. These girls make my job very fulfilling. I hope you see how happy they look :)

Mer Tan, May 6, 2006 by Jaime TeeI think the first I said, "I want my own wedding like that" was with Mer's. Elegant and just emotional!
Joy Cabero-Gwynn, April 22, 2006Joy and her husband Mike were very warm and friendly when I met them. I could say the same about their wedding in beautiful Sonya's Garden.
Michelle Lim, March 19, 2006 by Kenneth UyMichelle's was the first traditional Chinese wedding I had. Buti nlng Kenneth was there or else I would have gotten lost in translation at some point.
Jet Villanueva, Mar. 18, 2006 by John Mateos Ong
Tza Galinato, Mar. 19, 2006another themed wedding--and an early morning call time at that!
I'm not complaining :) I helped Tza get her unique arm band and hairpiece from Pia Faustino & I don't think anyone could have suited it better than her.
Kath Quisumbing, wed last March 17, 2006 had a lot of firsts!First wax, first eyebrow shaved, first full makeup, first.... We hope its a start of many fabulous firsts!
Angie Orellana, Feb. 18, 2006 by Dino LaraAngie's makeup is made up of shades of purple for her eyeshadow. This is Angie's second reception, the first being in London (if I'm not mistaken). We intentionally made it look stunning like that to match her contacts and the orchid on her hair while the rest of her entourage had hints of the same shade on their lipgloss.
Jeng Gutierrez, Feb. 12, 2006photo by Rene Gaviola
Jeng was crying as early as while I was doing her makeup! Thank God for waterproof mascara! haha

January 2006 brides
Thank all those who supported me at POWER WEDDINGS last weekend! I really hope to hear again from my active inquiries.

JJ Jiao Jan. 12, 2006 (photos by Jaime Tee)
My future jeweler knew exactly what she wanted -- no fuss, simple but elegant. And the perfect setting was Tagaytay. Everything was as precious as jewels. Everyone looked dazzling in their jewel toned outfits, matching jewelry and sparkly makeup. JJ looked radiant in her 24k ponytail holder and her simple makeup :) Her wedding got featured in Manila Bulletin.
Over here are photos I've gathered of my brides last January. Have fun!

This is the first time I meet Paul Vincent & I think Amy would agree that without him,
her wedding wouldn't be filled with so much laughter!
Amy Flora, Jan. 29, 2006
Remember Issa from last year? It's her big sister's turn! LJ was delightful.
A hint of bronze truly brought out the sparkle in her eyes.
LJ De Guzman Jan. 27, 2006
My first time in Quezon province was because of their councilor,
Lourdes De Luna. It was really sosyal to see choppers flying in carrying
Cheese Ledesma and other political figures ;) I did her hair by the way! Princess-style!

Wonderful Weeks
It has such been a busy month since I started working as Fashion & Beauty Editor for one of Summit Publishing's magazines. But i'm still thankful for those who have been supportive especially to those who went out of their way the past weekends to see my work :)
One of the most rewarding occasions among everything I've done the past weeks was Faye Linsangan-Castillo's Wedding last October 1. It was such a well-planned occasion, it was hard not to keep up. Buddy and his wife, Cathy were also there and it was a beautiful day to have seen familiar supplier friends enjoying themselves as we excitedly teased Faye's cold feet. I hope she felt very beautiful on that day. Faye promised to send me photos from the wedding one of these days so watch out for those.
There are new product and brands to watch out for...
I went to a Maybelline Lauch last Friday. Dream Matte Mousse is coming out in the market on November. Its a light-weight sheer foundation and Makeup Maven friend, Barbie Chan says its finish is similar to airbrush. Don't worry, I have this in my kit already so those who are dying for a cheap alternative to airbrush can experience it too. hehe. Right here is a photo from the event. With me in the picture are friend-makeup mavens, Barbie Chan & Pazzy Navarro with her hubby Kenji and baby Amari.

Totagirl Magazine (my magazine) received free samples for G-lish, a new brand of makeup with multiples of shades packed in tin cans. They're really cute and so far, the colors look good when applied (i've only tried them on myself so wait for more feedback though.)
Shu Uemura is also coming out with metallic eyeliners in all colors. Super fantastic shades!! But so far, I'm very happy with my Waterproof Khol Liners from Lancome. Its not glittery like Shu's but they really have bright colors that last ALL day :)
I hope my blog's still helping you so far. Thanks everyone!

090905 Denim & Purple
http://shellanddar.blogspot.com/2005/07/hair.htmlTake a look at these photos taken by Rene Gaviola. This wedding was one hellufa day!! Rene & Buddy got surprised when i hopped into a gown 40 minutes before church time. even my hairstlyist, Ney got the shock of his life when i pounded onto his hair corner (I get OC so I assign areas around the hotel room. hehe) Can't wait for my son/ bible bearer's photos.

Shelley's makeup design is one of the most interesting ones I've done so far... It's a cross between the bronze finish '(coz its iridescent and compliments her skin tone well) and purplish pink (to match her color motif). Her entourage had denim smokey eyes and pink shades for cheeks and lips to tie the look with the whole theme and at the same time make sure that shelley stood out :)
