Acoustic Ele

Can you get good sound through an acoustic/ electric guitar?
I was thinking about getting a doubleneck 6/12 string aco./ ele. guitar soon, but I wanted to know this because if not, i would get a doubleneck (one side electric, one side aco./ele.) 6/6.
So, my question is, if you plug an acoustic/ electric into an amp and set it on distortion, would the sound be close to a regular electric on the same settings? If not, then how close is it?

ok i found a guitar like the one i wanted. do you think a guitar like this would sound good on distortion? would it be a good guitar overall?
Hello there,
Think of the acoustic electric as a louder acoustic. The pickups are microphones that gather the acoustic sound. In contrast to an electric guitar that uses magnetic pickups and produces a much different sound. Effects pedals with an acoustic electric can be a bit problematic. If you want the sound of an electric guitar, you are better off getting an electric guitar.
Later,
I would be concerned about the quality of that guitar. I would not consider buying a guitar that the seller does not state the brand name. Have you ever played this brand of guitar? If not, I would suggest you look for something else. Sorry, don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I hate to see you waste your money.
