Someone who makes guitars is a luthier….?
…Is there a word for someone who makes compasses for navigation?
My company has been building Fluxgate (magnetic) compasses for many years, and I wondered if there was a word to describe someone who builds compasses. It is an ancient art initially developed by the chinese, brought to Europe in the middle ages, and was a key navigation tool.
I searched and searched, and “compass maker” is the standard term.
