When did fender start making the Deluxe Players Strat?

I recently bought a Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster (I’ve dated it to either 1990 or 1999). But I’m curious to know when they began production of that line.

The MIM Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster was reportedly not offered until 2004, so I am not sure how you have dated it to the 1990’s. Check http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php to make sure of the year-of-manufacture. These are really nice guitars that stand out as being both unique and practical; however, I don’t remember seeing them in music stores, at least not in the timeframes you mention. Best regards, Dana
